Séminaire ICI : Roy Timo
Titre et orateur
Compression for Letter-Based Fidelity Measures.
Roy Timo, Institute for Communications Engineering, Technische Universität München (TUM).
Date et lieu
Mardi 2 février 2016, 11h.
ENSEA, salle 384.
This talk will present some new results in lossy data compression, and show how these results can be applied to mixed datasets, unequal error protection, sparse sources, and data clustering. The new results include infinite and finite-blocklength achievability and converse bounds. We will give a tutorial introduction to finite-blocklength lossy data compression.
Joint work with Lars Palzer and Gerhard Kramer.
Roy Timo is an Alexander von Humboldt research fellow with the Institute for Communications Engineering at the Technische Universität München (TUM). Prior to joining TUM, he was a research fellow with the Institute for Telecommunications Research at the University of South Australia and a visiting postdoctoral researcher with the Communications and Electronics Department at Telecom ParisTech. He received the Bachelor of Engineering (Hons.) and Ph.D. degrees from the Australian National University (ANU).
