Séminaire ICI : Michèle Wigger

Titre du séminaire et oratrice

"Broadcasting with side-information: applications to feedback communication and caching".

Michèle Wigger, Télécom ParisTech.

Date et lieu

Mardi 12 mai 2015, 14h.
ENSEA, salle 384.

In a first part of this talk we review existing and new results on broadcasting with side-information, both from a source coding perspective as well as from a channel coding perspective. Special attention is put to situations where the single encoder is cognizant of the side-informations at the receivers. In the second part of the talk, we apply these results to obtain improved coding schemes for discrete memoryless broadcast channels with rate-limited feedback and for caching over erasure broadcast channels.

Michèle Wigger received the M.Sc. degree (with distinction) and the Ph.D. degree both in electrical engineering from ETH Zurich in March 2003 and October 2008, respectively.  She was awarded the ETH Medal both for her Master thesis as well as for her PhD thesis. After her PhD, she spent 7 months as a postdoctoral researcher at the Information Theory and Applications (ITA) center, University of California, San Diego. Since December 2009, she has been an assistant professor (maître de conférences) at Telecom ParisTech, Paris, France. She is an IEEE Senior Member and serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Communication Letters. Her research interests are in network information and communications theory; in particular in wireless networks, feedback channels, channels with states, and multi-terminal source coding with side-information.
